Can our President be ANY cooler? Seriously!
I watched his report to Congress tonight and feel so uplifted and so hopeful and SO ready to LIVE. He totally gets it --- WE have to be responsible for OURSELVES. WE can change this SITUATION. WE have power to make our lives, and AMERICA, a better place.
I'm near tears.

The Oscar noms came out this morning. There weren't many surprises, save for the shut-out of The Dark Knight from the best motion picture category. Whah? I have seen all the nominated films, except for The Reader. While I am disappointed that Christopher Nolan's film didn't snag a nom, I hope that that mediocre Benjamin Button doesn't win. Slumdog Millionaire was an exhilarating film, and Frost/Nixon was intriguing; however, I would like to see Milk take home the prize. The film really moved me.
In the end it doesn't really matter. I plan to enjoy myself that evening, eat a little, drink a lot, and have a good time during the show.

Watch her not answer any questions directly. It's enlightening (and frightening!) how little experience she has.

Check out [Douchebag*] Cornyn's re-election ad. Gee...if we make it sepia-toned and get a Johnny Cash sound-alike, them Texans will eat it up!
After I finished laughing, I threw up a little in my mouth because he'll probably get re-elected to the Senate easily because most Texans are dumb**.
*I can call him that. He's a big Dubya supporter.
**I can say that too. I'm a Texan who has seen how this state votes.

If you are still reeling from BSG not being on the air last week due to the holiday weekend (like me!) you can catch a 10 minute preview of this week's episode! It's only 48 hours away...you can get your fix then.
And you can always listen to the Galactica Watercooler podcast. Those nerds are HI-larious! I'm hooked!
UPDATE: Amazon has season four episodes for $2/ea. So those of you who don't have cable can score the full length eps there.

HBO's Ameri-cun version of Little Britian is being filmed in New York. Pictures are here. I'm curious to see how this version will pan out, as the British show is hilarious.

Remember the "Last Supper" style promo ad for Battlestar Galactica that supposedly tells something about the last cylon? Well, these nerds think they've figured it out! (Yes, it is spoiler-y, so don't click the link if you don't want to know.)

It's true -- Project Runway is moving to the Lifetime network. Geez, why don't those Weinstein bitches just come to my house and put their lit Virginia Slims out in my eye themselves?

Baby G is gone until Sunday, off to educate her peers about her qualitative research in the Bluff City. I will remain here, work a little overtime and perform my delegate duties at the Democratic county convention on Saturday.
Don't worry, in between work and civic duty, I have 3 episodes of Torchwood and half of season 3 of Battlestar Galactica to catch up on.

Culture jammers remake the Beijing Olympic logo to reflect China's violent relationship with Tibet.
Sally Kern's got some competition in her next election. She's also got some competition in the asshole category: from this guy. He wants to "export" gays. Sally's also got a pretty new website. Granted she didn't have anything to do with the creation of that site, but it's spot-on.
James Marsters is returning to Torchwood in the season finale. Expect more man-on-man fighting AND making out! Woo!
On a final note...damn! I wish I had some Marvin Gaye at the office today...

I used to not really care for the acting skillz of one Mr Alec Baldwin; however, his charming and hilarious turn as Jack Donaghy on 30 Rock melted my defenses and this recent article made me like him even more. What a guy!

Lawrence: No. No, man. Shit, no, man. I believe you'd get your ass kicked sayin' something like that, man.
