My commute -- a stream of consciousness report

I usually listen to the radio. I really like driving fast around the curvy flyover. I sometimes pass a herd of black cattle munching grass on the last remaining span of stripmall-free land by the highway. Sometimes I envy what I assume is their blissful ignorance. Then I remember what I had for dinner last night. The two vultures that were noshing on a deer carcass near the new Harley store yesterday morning were still eating it this morning. (Or another two vultures; I have no way of knowing.) Depending on the time of year and time of day, the sun is usually at a certain place in the sky that can't be blocked by my car's tiny visors. I do a lot of squinting but I'm very aware of my surroundings. The police have particular favorite spots to crouch with a radar gun. I've learned most of them; however, there is sometimes a cop who thinks he's clever and hides in a new place. Fortunately I've not been speeding when they do this. Well, not speeding much. It usually takes me 30 minutes to get from my house to my office. Then another three to walk from the parking lot to the door. I always mean to leave the house at a certain time, but end up a little late. Mostly because I'd rather stay in bed and listen to radio.

Sara, Sara, storms are brewing in your eyes...

That damned song has been stuck in my head for 2 days now!

In other news, the weekend is finally over. I say finally because it was crazy. My car broke down Friday at 5pm, I spent $600 fixing it, I had to work a full shift on Sunday, and yesterday I spent all day catching up on all the stuff I didn't do Saturday and Sunday because of work and car problems.

In still other news, Daxie has started pretending he is homeless by taking to sleeping in this cardboard box. What am I going to do with this drama queen?

Hump Day Tidbits

  • I missed the new episode of I Love New York last night. "Sad," I know. The really sad part? I'm kinda disappointed. [It's not like VH1 won't show it every night this week.]
  • The new HP cover has been revealed. It's so bright and happy looking...wonder what that means? Oh wait, I guess if you take the entire cover into consideration it's not that bright...
  • I'm [this] close to selling my old car. Whew!

Whutttt?

You mean toll roads aren't the answer to our crumbling infrastructure woes? Gee...

Best Week Ever

Best song ever: The Diarrhea Song

Best comic ever: It's a tie between Watchmen and Snake & Bacon's Cartoon Cabaret.

Best reason to stay up all night: there is no reason to stay up all night. (I am old robot.)

Best thing to do on a Sunday morning: read the paper, have coffee, and watch While You Were Out in your pajamas.

Best pair of shoes you ever owned: the black square-toed loafers I wore from 2000 to 2002. They were ugly, but damned comfortable.

Best side dish with steak: sauteed mushrooms.

Best car you've owned: that'd be grandpa's 1977 gold Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme. That road tank had a V-8 engine and no A/C. It was awesome! I drove it my senior year of high school. I miss that car. (But I certainly don't miss it's huge gas-guzzling capabilities.)

Best tv show from childhood: Hmmm...either Dukes of Hazzard or The A-Team. (Hey, watching them now is torture, but back then they rocked!)

So Gentle Readers, what are your 'best' answers? Post 'em here or on your own blog.
