"What do you mean it's 7am?!"

That's what I said to myself this morning after wrestling with the alarm clock since 6. My apologies to Baby G for my being one of those people.* We had a busy weekend, so it's really no wonder I had trouble getting up. We scored free tix to the Texas Wine & Food Festival Friday night and ate our weights of some really good gourmet and some kinda meh gourmet. I also sampled all the wine, vodka and rum that I could. I had some very bizarre dreams that night, as you can probably imagine. Best sample? Definitely the Dallas Fish Market's Hawaiian Escarole Sashimi with lemon glaze and capers. Holy gods that was heaven in my mouth! And the chef was a very nice guy, too!

Baby G and I also biked a lot. We probably rode about 8 miles total over two days. I take that back, I did about 8 miles, Baby G did more, as she went out a 2nd time yesterday evening. I was still sore from Saturday's ride.

I'm currently listening to "The Weekend (Extended Vocal Mix)" by Michael Gray. It's some of the gayest music I've ever heard, but I can't stop shakin' my booty. Funny side story: I knew a guy in college named Michael Gray. He was an adorable gay man who wouldn't acknowledge he was in fact gay. I hope he's out and proud now.

*Yes, I'm one of those assholes who sets my alarm to ring an hour ahead of time, so I have time to "wake up" before I actually have to get up. It doesn't work yet I still do it, hence my status as "asshole."

Warm Weather Weekend

The past 48 hours went so quickly I feel like I almost wasn't there. Friday night I went to the bookstore with Baby G and her brother. We scored all kinds of goodies, including some Rocky & Bullwinkle DVDs. Saturday the house was full of folk: sewing, ironing barbequeing, and the like. Saturday evening, Baby G joined friends to dine on Ethiopian cuisine. Spicy, but delightful. Then we took a "Ghost Tour" of downtown. It was fascinating and deliciously creepy. Yesterday we all pitched in and cleaned the house and raked the backyard. We've filled 6 lawn bags with leaves so far. I bought another bundle last night and think we'll fill all five of those as well. Ah, winter.

Since the weather was so gorgeous and out-of-character for the season, Baby G and I tried to fly a kite, but the wind just wouldn't cooperate. Maybe next weekend? That is, if it isn't snowing. Or 100 degrees. That old Texan saying, if you don't like the weather, just wait five minutes, is so true.

The Ides of September

It's still bloody hot here in the Lone Star state, the Horns barely won the game over the weekend, and I am going broke from my therapy bills. Ah, September...

It was an eventful weekend, but I still could have used another 12 hours. I did laundry and cleaned the kitchen. I met folks for brunch and avoided the mayhem of the ACL Festival. I watched all of 10 minutes of the Emmys. I saw Sally Field get censored by the dorks at Fox.

Fall TV is starting soon. I'm looking forward to the return of The Office. I'm so glad 30 Rock won an Emmy for best comedy; however, their ratings better improve or I'm gonna have to add one more great show to my things people didn't appreciate enough so now they're gone list. Is anyone else disappointed that you have to wait until the end of the month or the beginning of October for season premieres? It seems every fall, shows get moved further and further back. Soon, things will debut in December.
