I Just Paid a Gay Tax

I'm serious. Can you fuckin' believe it? I got my paystub this morning and a big chunk was missing. I thought there was a clerical error, but no. The federal government hit me up for $650 because my domestic partner, Baby G, got health insurance under my plan for the past 6 months and those benefits are taxable under law. Gee, thanks, Uncle Sam. You and your homophobic partners-in-crime (Congress, El Prez, the Supreme Court, state & local govts) can SUCK IT. (No, really, suck it. It might do you some good.)

Wow, so basically if I was married (to a man, of course), there would be no extra taxes for insuring my partner's health. We'd be healthy AND wealthy. Instead, since I so "stupidly" fell in love with someone who has no penis (thank the gods!) I'm taxed to hell and back. Why are the fucking puritans still running this country into the ground?

Yeah, happy holidays to me. Fucking stupid fucking laws. Just for that, Feds, I'm donating some monies to the queerest charities I can find. That, and maybe moving to Denmark.

well, actually, my sister pays the gay tax too. she has her longtime boyfriend on her insurance and they pull it out after taxes too.

maybe the problem is people thinking that marriage (regardless of gay or not) is the only right way.

just make sure if your charitable contributions are over $500 you have proof. Uncle Same and the IRS got a little more greedy with the new tax laws. They won't accept a basic claim of "X-amount" anymore without paperwork anymore.....dammit....

you were "taxed" for her benefits? Or charged for coverage?

yes, but the difference is that if your sister chooses to, she can legally marry her boyfriend. TR and i don't have that option. so, the feds discourage both shacking up, as well as gaiety.

good thing i have a real job now so that i don't have to use her insurance anymore to go to the doctor.

They taxed me for the benefits I received when BG took health insurance under my coverage. My employer unfortunately waits until the end of the year (and the one month you really need that extra cash) to send off this tax to the feds.

Well, Baby G is right --- now that she has her own insurance coverage, the feds will just have to do without my 'mo tax next year.
