Back to life, back to reality

Physically I'm feeling better today. Emotionally I feel like I, along with everyone else, am beginning to wake from a bad dream. Voters spoke loudly yesterday and a very palpable sense of change is in the air. Now, if only Democrats can fulfill all these campaign promises...

So, in honor of this first day of new ideas, I raise my caffeinated beverage to you, Gentle Readers! To the raising of the Minimum Wage! To the resolution of the immigration situation! To the lowering of prescription medicine costs! To the education of our kids! Woot! Now, let's go, New House Democrats! Let's get some shit done! End the war and start taking care of the people that you represent.

I'm still sad that Perry won. "I'm so humble that you have elected me governor for the next four years." I wanted to vomit all over the Morning News.
However, the brightside: I voted. AND I bullied Mr. Wonderful into also voting.
Thank you, TR, for being my guiding light. Here's a song:
"You, you light up my life. You give me hope, to carry on. You light up my days, and fill my nights, with song. It can't be wrong, when it feels so right."
Yeah, you feeellll so right.

Thanks, B. I'm really glad you two got out and voted. As for the Rickster, there were too many other candidates in the gubernatorial race. If the folks that voted for Strayhorn and Kinky would have voted for Bell instead, we'd have a new face living on Colorado St. C'est la vie. At least Perry only won by a small margin...it's not like everyone's crazy about him. Besides, on the brightside we have a Democratic House and quite possibly could have a majority in the Senate! Woot! I just wish people had gotten all riled up about Bush and his wacked-out administration 2 years ago... but I have high hopes for '08.

Perry has been elected with one of the smallest percentages of any governor of TX. And, thankfully for this time, the office of governor in this state has little power anyway.

As for the returns on the U.S. House, and what might happen with the Senate, I think we can congratulate ourselves. I am eager to see some shit (read: progressive policy) happen on the national level, that which we are promised and have asked to be done. It's not over yet, kids--we're going to have to keep our eyes on them.

I hope we have ten times the energy we've put into this when '08 comes along.
