It's good to be home
Just returned from a weekend in NOLA. I attended a convention with Booklahver and Bess and 1000's of other library dorks (I include myself in that category). We walked, we ate, we attended sessions, we walked some more, we ate some more, we drank heavily before said sessions, and we annoyed folks at the end of the rows we sat in because we had to get up and pee so much. (Can I help it Abita is so tasty?) I saw RTG twice but fortunately he did not see me! Eggs-a-lent! Of course he was wearing a shirt and tie. What idiot (who isn't presenting) wears a longsleeve shirt and a tie in June in New Orleans?
I digress.
I saw Madeline Albright, I completely missed Neil Gaiman (damnit!!) because his booksigning was not well-publicized, I got a lot of free crap from vendors (including an issue of Mad Magazine & a really bad pre-pub novel about a blood-thirsty eastern European princess), was bugged by street people for money, and ate a ridiculous amount of tasty beignets. Woo! Sugar high! Speaking of beignets, the pigeons that frequent Cafe du Monde are some of the most haggard looking I've ever seen. It's probably because they're 2 heartbeats away from an insulin coma. All they do is eat powdered sugar all day. Stupid birds.
It's good to be back, however. My flight home kinda sucked since some moron on the ground crew in my layover city rammed the airplane with the baggage truck and we had to deplane. On the brightside, I volunteered to take a later flight and scored a $216 travel voucher. Vegas, here I come! Not really. Another nice thing -- my bag was on the first flight that took all the cranky deplaned folks home and when I deboarded the later flight (which took off only 20 mins after the 'cranky' flight) my bag was already circling in baggage claim. I grabbed it and headed toward the car. Nice.
Only 4 more days until Baby G arrives! Woo! Oh, and the furniture arrives then, too! Yay, a real bed to sleep on! Mr Daxie's pal, Emerson J. Cat, will also be arriving then. He can go back to annoying him instead of me. Let the hissing begin.

It might make you sign in so only do it if you really want to. But it is worth it, if you like Will Ferrell and Ben Stiller. Hehehehhee
LOVE!!
