Burnt Orange Pride and Other Inflated Things

Unless you live in a cave like me, you've probably already heard by now that UT Austin won the national championship last night. (Woohoo!) I had no idea they were even playing until Mel-a-rific sent me a text message about their win. So, yes, I have on my alma mater's colors today. I don't even like football, but it's fun to get caught up on the coattails of someone else's success and ride for a little while.

On Monday Baby G and I took Mel-a-rific downtown to the Gibson Guitar Factory. We got to see skilled workers in action making very expensive guitars (these babies run $2,000 to $5,000+). Of course, at the end of the tour there was a gift shop full of pretty instruments in all shapes and colors. The dorkiest guitar of all, however, was this puppy (above). Nothin' says 'Mericuh like a geographically-inspired ax. While quite silly, you'll notice the particular color of this instrument... Flush with 20/20 hindsight, I wonder: was this a sign that UT would be the national champs...?

Huh huh.

I took a picture of that too...I luvs my country, ya'll.

I'm coming back to Memphis...being here by myself sucks.

Hey! Maybe I can get a job at the guitar factory! Yeah...I wanna be that guy who moves the guitars after the guy with actual skillz paints them.

Yes. That will work.

But what if I was thinking of moving to Austin?! Do they have a guitar factory there? We could both get jobs there and put our gloves on the guitars as they zip by on the conveyor belt...

Hook 'em, y'all!

What?!? You're gonna come back to Austin?

Ok. Well, there's no guitar factory here, but we've got some breweries...I bet you could score the "quality control specialist" position.

I believe you're highly qualified.

My special edition Schlitz beltbuckle gave me away, didn't it?

But seriously, yeah, we're thinkin' about it. Don't hold your breath, though...I don't want you turning blue before Flag Day.
