Rhyming "Back" with "Back"

Check out [Douchebag*] Cornyn's re-election ad. Gee...if we make it sepia-toned and get a Johnny Cash sound-alike, them Texans will eat it up!

After I finished laughing, I threw up a little in my mouth because he'll probably get re-elected to the Senate easily because most Texans are dumb**.

*I can call him that. He's a big Dubya supporter.

**I can say that too. I'm a Texan who has seen how this state votes.

That is the dumbest political ad I've ever seen. Except for the one in North Carolina where the guy said he didn't run any smear campaigns and the next commercial was a smear against his opponent paid for by his "friends" party. Yeah.
The only thing that saved this: it reminded me of Canyonero. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RoPon3xuCjE
I hope his Democratic "foe" is also named John, just to confuse the hell out of people. Because that would be "mo'" confusing. Yeah, they said "mo'" in this video.
Also: how many times a year do you think Cornyn a) rides a horse and b) wears fringed leather/buckskin/whatever animal that jacket is made of?? I'm going to bet 0 to about -.5 times.
Texas Monthly: 12.2007 issue has a rather detailed article about Cornyn if you want to know more. It's worth a read.

We saw that last night on the Daily Show, and it took me a while to convince Tom that 1. this guy's the incumbent, and 2. this is a real campaign ad. My favorite though, was the spoof ad that Jon Stewart made up for his "opponent", "Big Jew" (unfortunately there's not a YouTube clip of that yet!).

You can view "Big Jew" at the Comedy Central website for a limited time I'm sure. And just so you don't go and get all pessimistic, the latest poll (http://www.burntorangereport.com/upload/National%20Summary%20_day%202_%20final.pdf) has Noriega down by only two. (yes, I realize that his name may be a problem). But remember that Jon Tester and Jim Webb weren't supposed to win either in their Senate races in Montana and Virginia of all places. So don't lose hope ya'll.

It's a pdf. Obama doesn't fair nearly as well, which to me is a good thing.
