Colbert to run...for realz

Apparently Steven Colbert really is going to run for POTUS. He's apparently not running as a Republican b/c it costs $35,000.00* (?!) to get on the ballot in South Carolina. To run as a Democrat, one only needs $2,500.00 or 3,000 signatures.

Wow, no wonder we get presidents who have no clue about regular people...if you have to pay $35 grand just to get on a ballot, what hope do normal folks have? Not that normal folks are Republican...but you know what I mean.

*I guess this has something to do with it:

(5) When no other filing fee has been set by state or county committee each candidate at the time of filing for the nomination as a candidate for the Republican Party shall place with the appropriate party official a fee, in the form or cash or certified check, equal to two (2) percent of one year's salary for the office being sought. Provided that in the event that the office being sought has no salary, the governing committee shall set a reasonable filing fee. (Rule #11)
