An "early" start

An imposing cold front swept into town early this morning. I woke around 4:30 to go to the bathroom (ahh...the joys of getting older) and couldn't go back to sleep afterward like I normally do. Baby G had the same problem. We lay there for what seemed like eternity, tossing and turning with the wind howling outside and pecans dropping from the tree in the front yard onto our roof...plonk! roll roll roll. I think I finally fell back asleep around 5:45 or so...just in time to get a groggy hour's worth of rest before the alarm started its daily screech.

There was a lot of energy in the air. The sound of leaves scraping across the cement patio and the push of cold air through the cracks in the kitchen window set me on edge, but in a good way. I am excited that the temperature won't go above 65 today. Summer has been long and hard; it's definitely time for relief. Autumn may have officially arrived a month ago, but it didn't really get here until this morning. Fashionably late, as usual.
