An Indie Dilemma
What to do? Pay a whopping $34.99 at an independent local bookseller for the new HP7 when it comes out next month, or pay $16.99 at a big box store? I want to support my local bookstore, but the siren call of national chains with deep discounts are just too much to ignore.

You gotta go little guy here. Approximately two seconds after opening the book, you won't remember how much you paid for it. Whenever possible, we have to vote with our pocketbooks, and if the indy bookstore is a place you'd like to see stay in bidness, they need a little of your bidness to make it happen.
Of course, as librarians, I'm amazed any of us spend money on books (except if you work at a library that doesn't buy books, then it gets tricky). It's like being neck-deep in a buffet of words all day long, every day. Mmm, delicious!
Usually I do get my books from the library; however, I collect HP books AND there's a waitlist 10 miles long to borrow it from the library...so a purchase will be made.
You're absolutely right about "the little guy." Soon there won't be any little guys left to buy anything from, only mega-box stores surrounded by miles of parking lot.
I hear Joni Mitchell...
