Power-hungry: the understatement of the decade
2007 Pulitzer Prize: Charlie Savage, National Reporting
"President Bush has quietly claimed the authority to disobey more than 750 laws enacted since he took office, asserting that he has the power to set aside any statute passed by Congress when it conflicts with his interpretation of the Constitution."

There are so many "quiet" stories of the abuse of power by Alfred E Potus and his henchmen. Like all the rest of them, signing statements need to be screamed from the rooftops and met with our outrage. Savage is a good writer who's done a lot of legwork to present the issue in a coherent manner. Surprising the GLOBE didn't bury it (or him), as their corporate parents the NY TIMES have done on so many issues related to this administration.
It doesn't matter what your political beliefs are -- this is NOT constitutional government. What are we prepared to do about it?
Apparently nothing. I think most citizens are so fed up with the current political soup they feel apathy is their only tool.
All I know is that with each passing day, the atrocities of the Dubya Admin make me more and more angry. I feel pretty helpless. I didn't vote for the guy. I write letters to congress (that doesn't do much). I vent in cyberspace (also doesn't do much).
King George is well on his way to becoming a dictator, if he hasn't become one already. I knew he had been writing exclusions for himself in a lot of laws, but finding out that he's pretty much put himself above ALL 700+ laws that Congress has passed during his term is making my blood boil.
"We The People" my ass.
Once upon a time (1990) I went with my grandmother to the grand opening of the Texas State Aquarium. While listening to some really boring guy that I only knew as "The President's Son" give a speech.....a seagull shit right on me. 17 years later, I firmly believe that little bird was trying hard to tell me something about him. Thank you seagull! He IS a shit!
