$21 a week

Oregon food stamp recipients only get $21/week for groceries. (Wow, and I thought I was being thrifty with an $84 grocery tab last week! And I used coupons!)

To bring awareness to this fact, the governor of Oregon is living off food stamps for a week. An interesting stunt. Perhaps Oregon's legislature will take heed?

Whoah. I guess you can get ramen noodles for that. Not much nutrition though.

Guv'ner Ted better hope his dorky all-over-the-place shopping style endears him to at least some constituents. With his elitist comments, he just lost the Goober'N'Grape vote -- or what we former Oregon residents like to call Gresham.

Well I found it interesting instead of actually doing something about hunger and poverty in his state, he got some press for his stunt instead.

I suppose no one in politics cares anymore about constituents, only what those constituents think about them. Political postmodernism lets today's so-called leaders project an image of understanding to a world-wide audience while continuing to make no actual progress toward repairing social problems.
