It's that time again...
Oscar noms are out. I've only seen one of the 5 Best Picture nods (Little Miss Sunshine), no tears here. My favorite movie from '06, Children of Men, didn't score a BP nomination; however, it was nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay. I honestly didn't go to the movies too much last year. I liked V for Vendetta and I wanted to see The Prestige (is that on DVD yet?). I was quite underwhelmed by Talledega Nights: The Legend of Ricky Boring, as well as completely unexcited by the very notion of seeing Apocalypto, Happy Feet, or Poseidon, so I just stayed home. I hope this ennui for all things cinematic won't last long. I do enjoy going to the movies.
Regardless of the "blah" nominees this year, Oscar Nite is still one of my favorite nights. Now that I'm back in Tejas, you other Texin's best be coming to Baby G's and my Oscar Party 2000 (and seven). Yee Haw!

I had no intention of seeing Talladega Nights, but someone else rented it and convinced me to watch it. I must admit, it was pretty funny, especially the prayer-before-the-meal scene. The prayer went on and on, and when it was done, one of Ricky's sons said, "You made that grace your bitch!" This phrase can come in handy. Pull that one out at the next family gathering!
