Things might be crappy out here in zee real world...
However, there's good news for escapists like me!
- Christopher Guest's newest collaborative effort, For Your Consideration, is coming out in theaters soon. Yay! From the trailer it looks as though most of the usual "gang" are back. Waiting for Guffman is one of my favorite films. Guest has yet to outdo himself, in my humble opinion. I am keen to see how this new flick measures up.
- I finally finished massive novel and/or doorstop Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell. The first 100 pages are really hard to get through. The last 100 pages are impossible to stop reading! In the 500 pages inbetween, Clarke has written an extremely detailed story in an extremely historied setting (there were lots o' footnotes, some of them over a page long!) that exudes mystery, magic and English sensibility. I highly recommend the book, just be ready to dedicate a lot of time to it. There's a screenplay being written for a film adaptation, so those of you that don't fancy page turning can wait a year and see the story on the big screen.
- The Fall camping trip is only 2 weeks away! Talk about escaping! I am ready to jump out of my skin. Three days of hearing birds chirp, not getting a signal on my cell, actually seeing constellations in the night sky, and eating half-burnt hot dogs for breakfast is heaven.
