My "new" title

I went to new faculty orientation this morning. When I picked up my nametag I noticed something odd: librarian was spelled liberian. I'm not making this up! So I wrote a line through it and spelled out the word correctly underneath. YeeHaw!

Of course, the correct spelling is "lyberrian", with which I'm sure you replaced the counterfeit.

So how does NFO roll where you are? Are the pastries fresh and delicious...?

Hells yes! I had two chocolate chip muffins. The Univ Prez came by to say hello and the provost chilled with us the whole time. It is so ridiculously supportive here.

It was a complete 180 from you-know-where. I recall that orientation as being full of dazed folks who were like, "What? You're a librarian AND faculty? Huh?" and containing too many hours in the Star Wars Senate-like chamber room. Oh, and don't forget the whole business of being completely snubbed by the vice-provost during faculty introductions. I still vividly remember the look on her face during my exit interview --- "Huh? You're supposed to do research?" Yep, Admin there really together.

But I'm not bitter...no...
...especially since my Welcome bag I got yesterday contained a 256MB jump drive! WOOO!

That's some fancy swag you got there at NFO. I got a coffee cup, which I eat oatmeal out of. Jealous? You're jealous.

i don't think you changed the nametag to the proper word. see, liberians are brown, so they must be terrorists. i think they were letting you know that they know librarians are terrorists and they have their eye on you! god bless homeland security and stupidity!
