No pain, no gain. (Whoever first uttered that stupid cliche is now dead.)

Last night, Baby G and I finally got off our duffs and engaged in this wacky thing called exercise. We drove down to Town Lake and busted out on the trail. The thing one first notices about this trail is it is always packed with cyclists, runners, walkers, dogs, and sport strollers. In fact, so many people flock to this trail to exercise, one gets a better workout there than one would on another trail simply because in addition to walking/running/biking, one must also dodge everyone else, thus a second element of physical exertion is added to one's routine.

Wow. No wonder this city is ranked as one of the healthiest in our fair land. No one here stays inside. One hundred and eight degree weather be damned! (Seriously, the wind was hot last night. Ugh.) It's a complete turnaround from my former city (where I packed on 10 lbs that now must be worked off [and then some]).

I have to admit, I haven't properly exercised in many moons (as in 12 of them). But the endorphins I got last night were well worth the effort. I fell fast asleep at 10pm and am a bit achy today. The good news is, we're heading out to the trails again tonight. The better news is: I can't wait.

Yes..I find the crowds in this healthy city to be daunting sometimes.

I don't know, but I've always enjoyed the "getting away from it all" aspect of exercising in the outdoors and giant crowds tend to take away from that.

Maybe I'm just snobby.

Fortunately, there's still lots of outdoors...I was playing soccer at Zilker last night and there was probably more than 100 people out there. Sounds like a lot, but it was spread out and there were enough for games. It was quite nice...although, I wish I wasn't the only girl...you guys should get some cleats and come play!

Call us, we like kicking the ball around. We also need a rematch of badminton.

Yes Mel, you are snobby. At least there are people there. Come out to Albany and try running: no scenery, caliche gravel, cows, and absolutely no shade as in no trees. I can't run here anymore because it is just too boring.

And no rematch until I come back.

Kudos to all of you for exercising

D: re: rematch: you're on! As for getting bored running around albany, perhaps you could hire a mercenary to chase you with guns?

Or not.

What a great idea! I don't have a job right now--I could chase some bored mofos with guns. That way, I will get exercise, as well as whoever I am chasing.

You can use my helicopter to fly to D's house. He has to feed you, however. No food on the whirly-bird.
